Retirement Plan Updates – New cybersecurity requirements and proposed legislative changes

For the first time, the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) has issued its thoughts on what plan sponsors should be doing to protect your workers’ retirement benefits. Without sufficient protections, your participants and the plan’s assets may be at risk from internal and external cybersecurity threats. Key topics of discussion will include:
  • Plan sponsor fiduciary duties and obligations to hire and monitor service providers
  • The role you play in managing cyber risks internally as well as those your participants face
  • Best practices for your retirement plan, how to comply with the new DOL guidance, and documenting your process.
We will also discuss proposed legislative changes dubbed SECURE Act 2.0 include the following:
  • Raise the RMD age…again!
  • Require Automatic Enrollment for Newly Created 401(k) and 403(b) plans
  • Increase Catch Up Contributions
  • Permit Student-Loan Matching
  • Expansion of ROTH Options
  • National Database for Lost Participants
